2018 - Three impressions

We are going into 2019. I wish you all a happy and prosperous new year.

(If you have patience, please read below):

We must also look back into 2018 because from past we learn, as said by wise people. I’am in no mood for learning so I decided to look back and notice what made three ‘impressions’ on my mind.

Craziest ride: This is without any doubt goes to - the way our share market reacted. Going up 700 points in one day and coming down by 400 points the next day. Initially it was alarming, then my mind settled to observe and as time passes by my mind was looking forward to steep - ups and downs. It was thrilling like riding on a roller coaster – hair rising, screaming, blood boiling horror experience. And of course you have to pay for this roller coaster ride and your money is only for thrills).

Biggest Investment for children: Country is still in cash shortage (Centre was able to give only some 350 crores as ‘Gaja’ cyclone relief fund). But a private investment of around 540 crores was made for the sake of children (global perspective). No, that was not for educational, medical facilities, drinking water etc. It was made only for amusing children. Can you believe that! What amuses me is that they took 2 years to complete project. Yes, 2.0 - (3.0 is already in that picture so next amusement will be 4.0 hmm..version control is going to be difficult) - was the movie that was a pure amusement for children, who have only seen western super heroes. In 2018, they got a chance to see Indian super hero in western costume. I strongly feel project coordinators could have brought Godzilla too in that movie for children. Hmm..On a second thought it was good that Godzilla was not brought. Why? It comes in next impression!

Best Trickster: without doubt, best trickster of 2018 for Chennai people was…Rain. Indian meteorological dept, weather bloggers, astrologers, our own past experiences – rain was dishonest to everyone without partiality. We had few cyclones (red alerts given), we stored drinking water and bought bread and biscuits…we came out, stood staring at sky. But this fellow clearly enjoyed making fun of us. We came to know most of rain was poured on sea itself! Unless it rains in 2019, Chennai is going to face a deep water crisis. (Now you will know why I didn’t want Godzilla here. With little water how to wash away its faeces from Chennai streets once fight is over?)
